  • 22 ounces Farmland Classic Cut Bacon, cut into ½-inch pieces22 ounces
  • 2 tablespoons Salted butter2 tablespoons
  • 1 loaf Rustic white bread1 loaf
  • 1 Large onion, diced1
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar1 tablespoon
  • 2 Large granny smith apples, peeled and chopped2
  • 3 Celery stalks, diced3
  • 2/3 cup Italian parsley, chopped2/3 cup
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh thyme, chopped1 tablespoon
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh sage, chopped1 tablespoon
  • 3 Eggs, beaten3
  • 1 teaspoon Salt1 teaspoon
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper1 teaspoon
  • 3 1/2 cups Chicken broth3 1/2 cups

Instructions


  1. Butter a 9" x 13" baking dish

  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and spread them on a pan while preparing the other items

  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp and set aside. In the bacon-greased pan, add the onions and sauté for 5 minutes. Sprinkle the sugar over the onions and sauté an additional 3 minutes until golden brown, stirring so they do not stick

  4. Remove the onions, add the apples and celery and sauté for 5 to 7 minutes, then add the parsley, thyme, and sage along with the salt and pepper. Sauté for an additional minute

  5. Mix pan ingredients with the bread, eggs, and chicken broth in a separate bowl, then pour into the baking dish and bake for 45 minutes to an hour until the top is light and crusty
