1/4 teaspoon

Hot sauce
1/4 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon
Fresh thyme, chopped
1/2 teaspoon
1 cup
Gruyère cheese, shredded
1 cup
1/2 cup
Sour cream
1/2 cup
1/2 cup
Mayonnaise
1/2 cup
1 tablespoon
Dry sherry
1 tablespoon
Pita or Pretzel chips, Baguette (cut into toast points), for dipping

Directions


  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F

  2. Cook bacon in a large skillet. Remove and place on a paper towel to cool. Once cooled, crumble the bacon

  3. Add sweet onion, sugar, and sea salt to bacon grease in the skillet and cook over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring often, until onions caramelize

  4. Add sherry and cook for 1 minute. Stir in thyme and hot sauce. Remove from heat

  5. Mix together the sour cream and mayonnaise in a medium bowl. Add crumbled bacon, cheese, onion mixture, and black pepper. Mix together and transfer to a 2-cup baking dish

  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown on top

  7. Serve with the pita chips, pretzels, or toast points for dipping
