Cook gnocchi according to package instructions, and reserve.
Heat a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat and brown the sausage, breaking up any large clumps that form.
When the sausage is cooked through, add the shallot and garlic and sauté until translucent.
Deglaze with the white wine, add the pumpkin puree and chicken broth.
Stir to combine well and add the gnocchi, tossing to coat.
Bring to a simmer, add the sage, butter, and Romano cheese and toss to combine.
Transfer to a serving dish and serve hot with more cheese on the side.
